Personal injury attorneys Boston MA – Brain injury From a Car Accident as a Pedestrian – News 785

Brain injury, or Traumatic brain injury, can be life-altering and also life-threatening. It occurs when the brain is injured often as a result of an auto wreck. If the trauma causes damage to the skull itself, such as a crack or break, the injury is considered a penetrating head injury. More difficult to diagnose are closed head injuries, in which the brain is injured but the skull remains undamaged. This can happen due to an an impact, or from severe back-and-forth shaking, such as whiplash. Such events can take place in: car and truck accidents, fall downs or on the job injuries.

After meeting with her and talking with her and her family I realized although she wasn’t requiring treatment for her physical injuries, she was still suffering some other injuries, specifically trouble concentrating, headaches and some trouble in school. Due to my experience with prior clients having head injuries it became clear to me that this client was likely suffering from a tramatic brain injury.

She needed to get into a tramatic brain specialist so they could properly treat her, diagnose injuries and help her get back to where she was before the accident. Without our office really talking to the family and going though her history and realising that she was suffering much more of an injury then the physical injuries and that she was suffering a traumatic brain injury, this young woman likely would not have gotten the proper medical treatment, might not have recovered from this injuries and would not have not been compensated for the full extent of the brain injuries that she suffered in the accident. Because we were able to guide her in the right direction and she was able to recover from these injuries and we were also able to get her a six figure policy limit settlement on her case.

Sometimes people experience a recovery after their brain is injured, but in severe cases, brain injury can lead to permanent disability or wrongful death. It can lead to paralysis, seizures, memory loss, impaired communication skills, and many other disabilities. Victims suffer from psychological and emotional stress of the loss of independence, time away from work and family challenges. At the least, victims often require medical care that is ongoing and costly. Injured in an accident, you might need Personal injury lawyer Boston MA?

In Texas, sending text message while driving is legal, except for younger drivers who are under 18 and everyone driving through a school zone. In addition, all school bus drivers are prohibited from using cell phones if kids are on their bus. Unfortunatly, throughout the Dallas area, tweeting, texting and surfing the Internet on in-dash tablets has become the norm, particularly for drivers under 18.

Nationwide, over 40 percent of young adults say they’ve been in a car in which the driver was text messaging. Cell phone accidents are all-too common as well, particularly because there is no law in Texas against cell phones used by drivers, whether hand-held or hands-free. Unfortunately, it’s not only texting while driving and cell phones that cause car crashes in Texas-it is often a combination of driving under the influence and driving while distracted that turns into auto accident injuries and wrongful deaths.

Pedestrian accidents with cars, bicycle accidents and motorcycle accidents are frequently caused by drivers on cell phones. When anyone chooses to “call and drive,” they are 400 percent more likely to crash, the same effect as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you are a distracted driver victim or a loved one was killed by a texting driver, don’t delay.

If you are injured by a distracted driver or a loved one was killed by a texting driver, don’t delay-call the Lawyers at the Carse Law Firm. Whether we negotiate with insurance adjusters on your behalf, take your case to mediation or file a distracted driver lawsuit against the person responsible for your injuries, we’re the legal team that can do right by you and your family.

Phoenix and Scottsdale Trucking Accident Lawyer Who Can Fight Hard for Your Compensation
Trucking collisions happen in a matter of seconds. Perhaps one minute you were driving on Highway 10 through Phoenix or on the 101 in Scottsdale, and the next minute, a huge commercial 18-wheeler veered into your lane, with its trailer fish-tailing and smashing into your car. Or maybe you were hit head-on by a big rig that swerved into your lane or by a semi-truck that jackknifed at a high-speed, causing a multi-car pileup. From poor truck maintenance to a negligent truck driver, there are many reasons a trucking crash may take place:

  • Commercial truck fell on its side due to top-heavy cargo or being overloaded
  • 18-wheeler skidded on ice, in bad weather conditions
  • Big rig brakes went out on incline due to inadequate truck maintenance
  • Trailer hitch was loose, causing an out-of-control truck
  • Sleepy truck driver fell asleep at the wheel
  • Reckless trucker who was speeding, trying to avoid a late delivery

Austin TX bicycle accident lawyer warns about dangers due to bike share program

Bicycle riding has become increasingly popular in recent years as a means of dealing with high traffic in urban areas and as an alternative to cars as gas prices have gone up and concerns about pollution have persisted. Many cities are adopting bicycle sharing programs in order to make biking easier. Recently, YNN Austin announced that the city of Austin, Texas will be moving forward with a bicycle sharing program.

Our Austin family lawyers know that a bike sharing program could encourage more people to take up riding and could increase the number of bicyclists on the roads. In New York City, a bike-sharing program led to riders traveling more than 1.5 million miles in just the first month of the program. While it is great that bike sharing can increase convenience and making riding a more popular option, more bicyclists on the road also means a greater chance of bike accidents happening. As a result, cyclists and drivers need to be aware of the risks of crashes and need to take safety precautions to prevent accidents.

Austin Moving Forward with Bike Sharing Plan

The new bike-sharing program approved by the Austin City Council will result in hundreds of bicycles being made available for public use around town. An agreement has been entered into with B-Cycle to purchase an estimated $2 million worth of bicycles, kiosks and computer software to manage the new sharing program.

The program will allow riders to have an annual or monthly membership or to rent a bike on a daily basis. Estimates indicate that there will be about 10 different stations around town where bicyclists can rent and return bikes. The program will start with 100 bicycles and will continue to expand. By the spring of 2014, the next phase of the project will result in a total of 40 kiosk locations and 400 available bicycles.

Cyclists are excited about the new bike-sharing program, but it is important that both bike riders and drivers do everything possible to avoid the risk of bike accidents with more riders on the road.

For drivers, this means:
Checking for bike riders and yielding the right-of-way as required.
Refraining from dangerous behaviors such as speeding, drunk or drowsy driving, and driving while distracted. All of these behaviors could lead to an accident with a bike rider.
Leaving enough space between yourself and cyclists. Aggressive driving causes accidents.

For bicycle riders, safety efforts can include:
Wearing bright colors to be seen more easily and using reflective material when riding after dark.
Obeying lane markings and all rules of the road.
Riding in bicycle lanes whenever possible and always riding with traffic.
Communicating with drivers by using hand signals and ensuring that you make eye contact so drivers can see you on the roads.
